Our client seeks a Controller to join their Global Controllers Division.
The Controller will act as the Department Head for the Core Controllers team and be responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting functions for the office. The Controller will also oversee all accounts payable and payroll processing activities within the office. This hands-on leadership position requires the ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of the companies general ledger accounting system (SUN), sub-ledger accounting system (CAS), as well as very strong technical accounting and analytical skills.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for supervising, improving and reengineering the consolidated general ledger reporting process, including the daily, monthly, and year-end closing process, and for ensuring that there is appropriate documentation evidencing the accuracy of the financial records of the company. The Controller will also be responsible for completing a variety of special projects. Communication and interaction with global and domestic offices is required to ensure the consistency, accuracy & timeliness of reporting data, in addition to developing best practices. This position has 2 direct supervisory reports and is responsible for managing the activities of for a total team 8.
Other responsibilities: Coordinate month-end and year-end general ledger close; Provide analysis on monthly Profit & Loss and Statement of Condition; Ensure appropriate financial control over the general ledger: Regulatory reporting requirements including preparing Bank Call Report and consolidated Fiduciary Asset Schedules; New product accounting and proof testing coordinator, particularly as it related to the Investor Service Business; Coordination of quarterly and annual tax information with internal and external parties; Completion of various financial surveys and required regulatory reports; Coordinating special projects for the Core Controllers Group; Provide direct accounting and regulatory reporting advice to the Investor Service Business Line Controller; Perform accounting and regulatory reporting research on existing and new product initiatives, Advise the team on appropriate GAAP accounting, and implement these initiatives.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA required: 10+ years of financial services industry experience in a leadership finance role; At least 5 years of supervisory experience; Superior accounting research and analysis skills; Experience in new product implementation a plus; And strong attention to detail and organizational skills
