Thanks to continued success and business growth, on behalf of Aker Kvaerner, we have identified an exciting opportunity for a:

Senior Project/Mechanical Designer – Non-Ferrous

Based out of our head offices at Stockton on Tees in the North East of England.

Reporting to the Project Manager, this individual’s key responsibilities will include the ability:

• To carry out design activities and calculations, including the production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schedules, other documents, manhour estimates for CAD work, interpreting clients’ technical specifications and other related activities, to meet project requirements.

• Lead the design activities of self and other non-ferrous designers on a project, to ensure delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality.

• Ensure that all work on a project complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.

• Carry out design activities at the client site as required, to meet individual project or client needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop both them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole. The Senior Project Designer will work with other engineering functions on a project to ensure interdisciplinary alignment and coherence.

The candidate will also have considerable design experience and the ability to work in a team environment.

Interested individuals will preferably be qualified to HNC level in a relevant subject. Several years design experience in a non-ferrous metals and/or minerals processing (or similar field), would be preferred. With experience of plant layout involving materials handling plant, conveyors, mills and crushers etc.

This role requires a person with good team leadership capability as well as sound IT skills including all MS Office packages. This is an important role for an individual who thrives on delivering against challenging deadlines.
